Day to Day: Normal Parenting Sights
I was enjoying a calm Sunday morning in my house (all credit given to the television being on) when I look over at the livingroom and this is what I see. My middle child laying on the couch, feet stuck straight up in the air against the wall. The sock she does have on is an infant’s sock, all of which were donated 6 months ago. Where she found this one I have no idea. How she made it fit when half the time she turns into a weeping ragdoll at the mention of putting her size 3T socks on, I also have no idea. Yet there she is, perfectly comfortable watching TV sideways and probably partly upside-down. This is parenting. Sights like this, unanswered questions, contradictory actions, are all absolutely normal.
I laugh, shake my head, and try really hard to keep my cool when we argue later about putting on a second sock, in addition to shoes…
you know those brand new shoes I JUST bought that suddenly ‘don’t fit right’ or are too saturated in mud to wear….
