Instant Homemade Baby Puffs
Puffs…they’ve taken over the baby aisle at the grocery store. Every baby brand has their own version, and I agree with their popularity, they’re awesome! The fact that they dissolve quickly and their many flavors make them wonderful for babies starting solid foods and developing those fine motor skills. So naturally, my stubborn self wanted a homemade alternative. What I came up with is SO simple, easy, fast, and best of all, the baby loves them!
- 1/2 Cup Puffed Wheat
- 1 TBSP Flavored yogurt
Yup, that’s all!
About those ingredients:
- Puffed Wheat You can find this in a bag or box in the cereal aisle. The box in the picture was less than $2.00 for ??cups. It says only 6oz in weight because puffed wheat is so light and airy making it perfect for homemade baby puffs. This airiness is what makes them dissolve away with little effort. No teeth necessary!
- Flavored Yogurt Use any kind you want. I personally like anything with low sugar and I like to buy several different flavors in single serving containers to change it up.
Mix the puffed wheat and yogurt together, stirring until evenly coated. You can add more or less yogurt depending on what your baby prefers. Give to baby immediately.

Try Puffed Rice in place of Puffed Wheat. Puffed Rice is from white rice, and Puffed Wheat is from brown rice. In place of yogurt you can try baby food, apple sauce, or other purees.
